About — The Cumberland Bar
food drinks
As part of the D M Stewart family group of pubs, our bars have no tie to any single brewery or buying group.
The family has been involved in the wine, ale and spirit trade for over 300 years, at first through the McCallum family, and over the last 100 years in Edinburgh, through the Stewart family.
The Stewart family, having no financial ties to suppliers, has been in the perfect position to lead the explosion of variety that is now expected in all the best bars.
Be it real ales, wines by the glass, whiskies or spirits, we are able to listen to what the customer wants and work hard to offer it.
Food is equally close to the heart, the family having been livestock farmers for equally as long as wine and spirit merchants.
About — D M Stewart Ltd

The Stewart family have been involved in the Edinburgh drinks trade for over 140 years.
Alongside the family whisky business, D & J McCallum Ltd, a number of public houses were developed including The Guildford Arms in 1896.
After the whisky business was sold in the 1930s, the pubs were brought together to form D M Stewart Ltd.
David & Christian Stewart, the fourth generation, now run the business, looking to expand and adapt to the constantly changing demands and opportunities of Edinburgh's hospitality sector.
Ben Challum Ltd is the sister company to D M Stewart Ltd and operates a mixed farming enterprise in Crieff, Perthshire.

food drinks menu
An attractive choice of craft beers and tasty, well-presented food makes The Gait is one of Edinburgh's true gastropubs.
The 2017/18 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+ ).
Before their refurb back in 2014, The Canons’ Gait, for many, was just a stop-off for a swift half on the way home.
With six rotating beer taps, three regulars, two guest keg beers and a range of trendy bottles from the likes of Colonsay and Loch Ness breweries, they’ve got their beer selection down to a tee.
To complement such a fine range of ales is a menu of light bites, including sharing platters, as well as some more substantial grub.
